Lunch Time Experience: That's One Small Stamp for a Man: The Philatelic Journey of Apollo 11

      Wednesday, July 24, 2019, 12 – 1 pm

Join us for July's Lunchtime Experience with author Richard Weaver as he discusses the stamps issued by countries around the world to commemorate the first lunar landing 50 years ago this month.

In 1969, Postmaster General Winton Blount said that "Apollo 11 will mark America's first mail run to the Moon" and that was literally true. Hear the story of the stamp die that accompanied the astronauts and was later used to create millions of stamps that are still collected today. Weaver will also provide a tour through selected images drawn from his new book, "That's One Small Stamp for a Man: The Philatelic Journey of Apollo 11."
