      Maker Faire NoVa 2019

      Maker Faire NoVa is the only official Maker Faire in the Washington DC Metro area. This is a must see event if you like science, technology, crafts/artisans, and a day of great entertainment and participating and learning how to make things! Over 180 Makers/Exhibitors are expected for the 2019 event. Buy your tickets early and save! The official event website is: http://nova.makerfaire.com/ For 2019, Maker Faire NoVa is partnering with the SmartPhilm Festival which is a film festival for films shot and edited entirely on a smart phone! Philm Screenings will be held in the 300 seat theater on the GMU campus in the Johnson Center (JC) lower level. The SmartPhilm Festival (http://smartphilm.com) will also conduct workshops during Maker Faire NoVa aimed at teaching the art and technology of making and editing films on a smartphone/tablet device. Maker Faire Tickets are all you need to enjoy the SmartPhilm Festival and workshops as well as Maker Faire NoVa! George Mason University - Fairfax, VA We are incredibly excited to be working with George Mason University to help sponsor the 6th Annual Maker Faire NoVa. Along with being a great partner for both Makers, Volunteers, and the event space itself, GMU has ample free parking on-site! How To Attend - Tickets, GMU Student, Faculty, Staff Access The event is open to the public but you must have a ticket to attend. Tickets are sold online at a substantial discount if you order ahead.  George Mason University Students, Faculty and Staff will get free access to the Faire; they just need to show their Student/Faculty ID to get a wristband and enter the event. When will Maker Faire NoVa be open to the public? The Faire will be open Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 11 am to 5 pm. Where can I park? Free Parking will be available on-site at the George Mason University Fairfax, VA campus. Maker Faire Parking will be in the Rappahannock and Shenandoah garages. See map  http://nova.makerfaire.com/tickets/. Transportation: Transportation from the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU metro station to the Faire is available via Gold1, Gold2 or Green buses (25 minute trip). Volunteers get free admission and sign-off on volunteer hours. More details: http://nova.makerfaire.com/volunteers/ What if it rains? The show will go on regardless of the weather! Bring rain gear to keep you dry when walking outdoors. Fortunately, we will have many indoor exhibits to keep the family dry. What can I expect? To have a fantastic time!
